Brigham Young University-Idaho and Auerbach Pollock and Friedlander consultants turned to the Stage Technologies Las Vegas team to install an up-to-date motorized rigging system in the BYU-Idaho Center at the heart of the new campus. The building covers 435,000-square feet, has a 15,000-seat auditorium and a multi-purpose area large enough for 10 full basketball courts. The auditoriumwill be used for weekly devotional speeches and commencement addresses, graduation ceremonies and even regional church conferences.
The system comprises 55 BigTow winches, control cabinets, a Nomad control desk and a Solo handheld control console. The system also features two camera pylons - an engineering innovation from the Stage Technologies research and development team. The camera pylon enables perfect filming of motion shots on a vertical axis and consists of a sturdy, fixed camera base on a steel telescopic frame which extends upwards, allowing the camera to ascend or descend without deviation or stutter.
