Automation Control Systems Engineers

Stage Technologies are internationally renowned leaders in the supply of turnkey engineering solutions for the entertainment industry. We are seeking Automation Control Systems Engineers to join our worldwide engineering team. The successful candidates will be eligible to work and have experience of working in mainland China, the USA or elsewhere in the world.

Stage Technologies design and supply industrial-standard, high-specification automation systems for a wide range of clients and end users for concert touring, Theatre, TV and film applications around the world.  The ideal candidates will hold a good degree in electrical/electronics engineering or mechatronics, will have proven analytical, fault-finding and communication skills, and will be able to work with minimum supervision.

They will be able to read, understand and modify complex electrical schematics, have experience with PLC programming (preferably Siemens step 7), Simotion and WinCC, and be proficient with MS office. It would be desirable to have experience with Fieldbus communications and knowledge of higher level programming languages. Experience in design or commissioning of industrial motion control systems, including commissioning inverter drive systems for different types of motor and feedback devices would be a significant advantage.

The candidates will be responsible for factory testing and pre-commissioning of new control systems before shipping, as well as on-site commissioning and handover to clients.

Electrical Design Engineer - London, UK

Stage Technologies are internationally renowned leaders in the supply of turnkey engineering solutions for the entertainment industry.

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join the engineering team based in our London office. The company design and supply industrial-standard, high-specification automation systems for a wide range of clients and end users for concerts, touring, theatre, TV and film applications around the world.

The position is within the Electrical Design team and focused on the hardware design of the Power and Control systems for scenery moving equipment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

•    Liaising with internal and external resources on design, procurement and construction to ensure designs and equipment reflect site and technical requirements.
•    Designing power and control circuits to relevant national and international standards.
•    Producing and maintaining parts lists for purchasing.
•    Producing and maintaining detailed drawings – risers, field connections, schematics and panel layouts.
•    Supervising construction in panel build workshop.
•    Producing and maintaining test documentation.

Qualification to HNC/HND/Degree level in Electrical Engineering is essential. Previous experience already gained in Industrial Automation will be very advantageous. Familiarity with E-Plan P8 would be beneficial but is not essential as full training will be given to the right candidate. The position may require some site work and travelling but is essentially office based.

The industry is very dynamic, diverse and challenging. The right candidate will be an essential part of a small team and will need excellent written and verbal communications skills, be quick to learn and well organized with a right first time attitude.


Graduate Engineers Needed - London or Haverhill

We have opportunities for Graduate Engineers in all disciplines. The successful applicants will apply their particular engineering skills to assist in the design, production and commissioning of a diverse range of electrical, electronic and mechanical equipment being used in rock concerts, opera houses, theatres, film and TV around the world.
 
We are looking for recent graduates who have one or more good engineering degrees and a commercial bias coupled with excellent communication and organisation skills.  Successful applicants will be willing to travel extensively overseas and will demonstrate the ability to work alone or as a member of a team.

Electrical Design Engineer - Las Vegas

Stage Technologies are internationally renowned leaders in the supply of engineering solutions for the entertainment industry. We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to work within the Controls and Automation Engineering Team on hardware design of electrical control systems on worldwide automation projects.

The Role:

  • Mainly office based, you will be required to perform the detailed hardware design of the power and control cabinets and site installation for multi-axis automation projects.
  • The application involves motor position control using Siemens industrial automation products.  Experience in this area would be useful, but it is more important that you are familiar with the necessary standards.
  • You will be required to produce and maintain detailed manufacturing drawings and parts lists using Eplan P8 as well as producing and maintaining Bills of Materials.
  • You will be expected to maintain close relationships with production and external suppliers to ensure tight timescales can be maintained.
  • You will be working in multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of projects – often concurrently and to tight timescales.  
  • You will be required to liaise internally and externally to ensure your designs co-ordinate with site and technical requirements.

The Candidate:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or similar qualification.
  • We are a UL508A certified panel builder and familiarity with this standard is desirable.
  • Experience with an electrical design package such as Eplan or AutoCAD Electrical.  Lack of experience in Eplan would not be seen as an impediment to an otherwise exceptional candidate, and training will be provided if required.
  • You will have experience or a good working knowledge of automation principles, machinery safety directives, Low Voltage control gear and control systems.
  • Intimate knowledge of drawing principles and standards (IEC 61508)
  • Previous experience in electrical panel build is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.

Automation Engineer - Las Vegas

The Role:

  • Complete project engineering of control systems from initial design through to final commissioning on site.
  • Commissioning phases will often involve travel with some travel being overseas.
  • Systems are primarily motor-driven motion control (servo and induction) and knowledge and experience with similar systems will be a considerable advantage.
