Matilda the Musical wins record seven Olivier awards

Congratulations to Matilda The Musical,  which has won a record seven Olivier Awards including best musical, best set design and best actress in a musical, (awarded to the four child actors who share the title role).

The Stage Technologies rentals team provided an automation control system of 30 axes for the Matilda the Musical's Cambridge Theatre run, including: 27 servo motors, nine Big Tow Classic winches, six AU:tour control cabinets, one emergency stop system and one Acrobat G*6 control desk. The system controls scenic sliders for effects such as flying school desks, swings and a classroom chalk board that writes on its own.

The team also devised a battery-powered solution for one event which could not be fed by traditional cables on stage.
