Meet the G6

On Friday 6th June, Stage Technologies' Show Rental Department hosted a preview of our 2009 generation Acrobat∙G6 console for West End automation operators at the Noel Coward Theatre. Alex Hitchcock, training development manager, and Adam King, head of software engineering, demonstrated the highlights of the new console and took questions from the group.

The Acrobat first began setting industry standards over 10 years ago and since then has been used in countless West End shows and for a wide variety of automation projects around the world. The latest generation G6, in conjunction with eChameleon software, is the culmination of years of experience and collaboration contributed by our customers and our own staff.

The G6’s sleek case design has a reduced footprint and the console features highly accurate e-belt playbacks, an ergonomic dead man’s handle, and dual wide-screen displays. A shortcut panel with LCD buttons provides one-touch control of pre-programmed moves, as well as the ability to display the status of external equipment and to provide quick access to frequently used desk functions. The G6 uses the new eChameleon software, a common platform across our consoles. eChameleon provides additional functionality elements that complement the familiar concepts of its predecessor, Chameleon, including an expanded command line interface that enhances ease of operation and an enriched 3-D engine for advanced visualisation. eChameleon is more intuitive, meaning that the Acrobat∙G6 can control the most complicated of performances every night but is not daunting to a less experienced user running a simpler show. The combination of sophisticated software and six playbacks makes this console a natural choice for installations normally requiring a fixed operating position.
