An Epic Launch for Norwegian Cruise Lines
The newest £800m giant of the seas to set sail from the cruise company Norwegian Cruise Lines is the much-anticipated 'Norwegian Epic'. The ship is not just Norwegian’s latest addition to the fleet, but also their biggest, accommodating 4,100 passengers and offering a medley of restaurants, entertainment venues and live performance acts reportedly unmatched in originality and quality.
The vessel, which set out on her maiden transatlantic voyage from London to New York at the end of June, was built in Saint Nazaire, France. She was christened traditionally with champagne bottles in Manhattan on 2nd July in a ceremony that included celebrity hosts and entertainment from various artists including the Blue Man Group.
Subcontracted by Mavco, Stage Technologies provided a complete overstage flying system for the main theatre, including performer flying, stage elevators, front-of-house lighting trusses and a projection platform, as well as an elevator and performer flying system for the Speigel Tent, all with Illusionist control.
