BigTow goes to Canada
Stage Technologies Las Vegas has recently worked on the company’s first installation in Canada at Place des Arts in Montreal – often referred to as the largest cultural complex in the country.
Place des Arts is made up of five performance halls comprising a total of 6,000 seats. During the 2007-2008 artistic season, it offered over 1,000 performances, and over one million spectators attended the various shows that were staged. Work is currently underway on two major sites at the Place des Arts plaza: the construction of a concert hall, L'Adresse Symphonique, and the remodelling of the Grand Foyer Culturel in the Hall des Pas Perdus.
The Las Vegas team worked for Show Distribution on the project, installing two BT390 winches, one at the Theatre Maisonneuve and one at the Salle Wilfrid Pelletier Theatre, to control their simple house curtain automation systems. There are several bilingual touch screens (English and French Canadian) throughout the stage area for control. The installations were completed over a three-week period over the summer.
